Peachy - Kos, Greece 2001

I was the first to be sent the famous adventuring Peachy to take on holiday, and around locally with me in the UK.
Here are some of her travels.
These start in Surrey (UK) and move on to Greek island of Kos,and a bit of the Turkish mainland.
Peachy also watched a concert in London, Hyde Park and saw Woking's "War of the Worlds" alien....

"Killer Carrot 2"
Sat 30th June
(Surrey, UK)

Peachy attends Robots@War!
A school summer fete with a difference - robots battling in the yard!
Peachy poses with "Killer Carrot 2" before its grim end under the axe of a robot called Dominator 2

Sunrise
Sun 1st July
(Kefalos, Kos)

Peachy admires the sunrise from the holiday coach (6.00a.m.!!)
She declined to sample the restaurants and nightlife at the town of Kardemena that evening (too tired!).

Peachy & me
Mon 2nd July
(Kefalos, Kos)

Peachy rested. Didn't come snorkelling in case of hair damage, poor thing.
Pic with me on our hotel balcony.
(Wearning my embroidered top, made by my mum, half-cross stich Baby Ribbon by me).

The Maussolleion
Tues 3rd July
(Bodrum, Turkey)

Peachy visits the remains of the Maussolleion of Halicarnassus, one of the 7 Wonders of the ancient
world. A ruined burial monument.
She also met a camel, and went to a Turkish market.

Asklepion
Wed 4th July
(Platani, Kos)

Peachy visits the seat of ancient medical learning, the ancient Asklepion (named after Greek god of
medicine). Hippocrates taught here, all doctors still swear the Hyppocratic oath.

Roman Baths
Wed 4th July
(Platani, Kos)

She also looked at a Roman bath built next to the Asklepion

Marketplace
Wed 4th July
(Kos Town)

Peachy in the ruins of an ancient Marketplace

Odeon
Wed 4th July
(Kos Town)

Peachy visits an ancient drama school, the Odeon (being reconstructed).
Peachy is the tiny pink smudge on the 5th step near the right-hand aisle!

Castle entrance
Thur 5th July
(Andimachia, Kos)

Peachy visits a real Medieval castle (the Knights of St John built it). Definitely NOT Dream Castle!
Something to tell her friends at US RenFaires!

Castle wall
Thur 5th July
(Andimachia, Kos)

It was VERY windy up there, so she kept away from the castle wall edges.

Clever Clover!
Fri 6th July
(Tigaki,Kos)

As well as visiting a museum of statues and a Roman house, Kos Town, Peachy found a new friend
right at the back of a shelf in a remote toyshop on the way :)
(He was found behind some hideous fakies with big white teeth, one of which blew bubbles out of
its head. Oddly called "My Beautiful Pony").

My boyfriend and I visited a beach with hot springs - Peachy didn't want to be damaged or
stolen so stayed in the car!

Sat 7th July

Last day, too windy for pony pics or Peachy may have been lost at sea!
Visited a cafe in the mountains at Pyli called "Bubbles Bar" out of principle :)
Ate near beach at Mastihari (spoted another pony place, "Sea Breeze"!)
Visited a forest at Plaka, fed some peacocks (very pretty), then went home in the early
hours of Sunday morning.

Alien attacks!
Sat 14th July,
(Woking, UK)

Peachy meets one of the aliens from War of the Worlds.
This area of Woking, where I live, commemorates HG Wells (who wrote" War of the Worlds").
In the book, the aliens landed in nearbye Horsell!
Peachy is standing on the sinking "Thunderchild" battleship, made from bricks!
(Addition detail of alien laser destruction thanks to my boyfriend Julian).

Pavarotti
Sat 14th July,
(London, UK)

Peachy went to the "Picnic with Pavarotti" concert in Hyde Park in London.
Here she is listening, andwatching him on the big screen!
Excellent fun, this concert lasted from 3pm til 8pm, and also starred Vanessa-Mae (violinist),
Charlotte Church (singer) and Russell Watson (a young tenor).

Gargoyle
Sat 14th July,
(London, UK)

Peachy followed us to a pub after the concert (Kyrian, an internet talker friend, who was DJing at
"The Malborough Head", nr Oxford Street in London).
This pub has a special "spooky" basement where goths listen to loud, strange music.
Peachy decline to appear with a friendly gargoyle and hid in the rucksack!

The Underground
Sat 14th July,
(Woking, UK)

Peachy travelled on the London Underground, seen here at a station on the Jubilee Line
(sounds very "pony", doesn't it?).

She's on her way back from the pub here.

Sun 15th July,
(Woking, UK)

Peachy said "Hi" to my friend Paula Cooper, who visited briefly to deliver some trades.
(French mum & baby light up sets!).

Baby Cotton Candy - Cornwall April 2002

Following in the hootprints of the travelling Peachy, I decided when taking a Spring break to take along Baby Cotton Candy for fun!
We went via Dorset and Devon, but only stopped 1 day in Dorset and travelled pretty much straight through Devon.

Umbrella horse
Tues 26th March

Having walked around Dorchester (Dorset) having been to the museum, we found this place and
thought a pic was neccessary!

The unusual bathroom bin in a hotel in Lyme Regis (Dorset).

Full-size driftwood horse sculpture on way in to "The Eden Project" (nr St Austell, Cornwall)

Eden Project
Thurs 28th March

Inside "The Eden Project", which is like a set of giant greenhouses which look like polythene golfballs.
This was in the tropical section.
Looked round Truro after - no MLPs in any charity shops or Flea Markets!

Me!
Fri 29th March

Me with Baby Cotton Candy, at Penzanze. No pirates I'm afraid!
But lots of nice book shops and good Fish & Chips!

At Carn-les-Boel ancient fort.A book I read,by a Dowser, says that "ley line" energy
vanishes/focusses into this area.

Chysauster
Mon 1st April

At Chysauster, an ancient Celtic settlement.
Odd clusters of "sub-huts" around each house's central courtyard.

Hell's Mouth
Mon 1stApril

At Hell's Mouth (yup, its actual name).
Took shelter from rain & wind in cafe, where Julian's glasses broke into 2!

Boscastle
Tues 2nd April

Boscastle, which has a (narrow!) natural harbour entrance with cliffs either side.
They used to import Canadian timber here, despite the difficulty of dragging it out of the boats!

Witchcraft Musuem
Tues 2nd April

Boscastle Witchcraft Museum!
A very interesting though sometimes strange or disturbing set of displays.

Tintagel
Tues 2nd April

Tintagel Castle, mythical (?) home of King Arthur!

Baby Glory - Canada May 2002

These pictures were taken when we stayed in Ottawa, visiting a friend.
Baby Glory went on lots of walks to nature reserves, visited Montreal and had lots of pictures taken!
All the pictures from the holiday are on my Yahoo gallery; remember to click "Show All" to see everything.
Apologies if the pictures below only work intermittantly, but they're stored on Yahoo and tend to do that :S

These pictures were taken at a UK meet in Woking on July 12th. Tic-tac-toe, Purple Pen, Cornish Pony & family attended.
The aim was to find 2003 ponies at Toys R Us, and as you can see, we succeeded!
There's also a pic below of a toy farm we saw in a charity shop - complete with "fakie" squeaky pony!
Unfortunately Lickety Split's cafe was shut, but we still have some pictures of it.
